On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Lafayette High School girls soccer team hosted the Branford Buccaneers for the District Championship game. What ensued was an intense back-and-forth across the field, with neither team able to get the ball into the goal. It all came down to one goal, which the Hornets stole across the field and snuck in. This was all it took for the Hornets to become the girl's soccer District Champions. Now they prepare for the state gauntlet. On Tuesday, Feb. 11, the Hornets faced off against the P.K. Yonge Blue Waves in the playoff state championship game. See the Wednesday, Feb. 19, edition of the Riverbend News for more coverage of the game.
