On Tuesday, April 30, the Lafayette High School softball team traveled just down the street to their rivals at Branford High School for a showdown in the District Championship semifinals. The game started off slow, with the Buccaneers able to get one runner across home plate four innings in a row. The Hornets were unable to respond to this and found themselves fighting a losing battle. The Buccaneers scored another two runs in the fifth inning and then another four in the sixth. Unfortunately, the Hornets were unable to get a runner across home plate the entire game, leading to a shut out loss at 10-0.
