On Wednesday, Aug. 5, parents and students from Hamilton Elementary School enjoyed a new experience for their open house. Instead of roaming the halls and snacking on finger foods while meeting teachers and staff, they met with teachers and picked up information and laptops in drive-thru fashion.
Pre-K through second grade teachers met parents in their vehicles from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., while third through sixth grade teachers met parents from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students planning to take the innovative learning path also picked up laptops for home viewing of live-streamed classrooms. This learning option is available for temporary or full-term usage.
Approximately 500 students and parents attended the open house and they were pleasantly surprised to find that Hamilton Elementary provided all of the school supplies to get them started this year. “This was in an effort to provide the needed supplies so that families did not have to,” said Principal Peggy Hasty. “This was not our traditional-style event, but the faculty, staff and administration were very excited to see our families and welcome our students to a new school year. We are working very hard to provide a clean and safe learning environment for all students this year.”
