Exciting news has come from the Hamilton County School District, where one of their own, Fernanda Gomez, has been selected to attend the prestigious Florida Civics and Debate Initiative trip to Washington, D.C.!
Gomez, along with several other outstanding students, was selected from a pool of applicants across the entire state of Florida. She will represent Hamilton County during the weeklong trip, which will take place from Monday, April 7, to Thursday, April 10. During this trip, Gomez will meet with members of Congress and tour the nation's capital, further enriching her educational experience.
Gomez has also earned a spot in the State Competition, competing in Informative Speaking-Varsity. Her selection is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her craft.
In addition to Fernanda's achievement, several other students from Hamilton County also earned impressive rankings at recent competitions, with all participants placing in the top 10 for their respective categories and divisions. These students include:
• Aracelli Vasquez (6th) - Informative Speaking-Mar
• Dominic Whitest (7th) - Informative Speaking-Nov
• Bella Nelson (9th) - Informative Speaking-Nov
• Alicia Tomas (6th) - Informative Speaking-Nov
