On Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Hamilton County Arena in Jasper, the Hamilton County Fair Events Day will be held. The day will include a swine show, horse show, a barbeque supper, a peewee pig scramble, a swine sale and a 4-H and FFA pig scramble. The swine show is at 1 p.m., and will include an official weigh in. The categories to win are Record Book Winners, Reserve Champion and Grand Champion. Swine will be sold by auction at 7 p.m. The horse show will begin at 4 p.m., and is open to all youth at no cost. Proof of current coggins tests are required. The categories for the show include Lead Line, Peewee, Small Fry and Juniors. Events held for the horse show will include Texas Barrel, Arena Race and Clover Leaf. The barbeque supper will start at 5 p.m., after the horse show. Attendees will receive a plate with a serving of Boston butt pork, coleslaw, baked beans, bread and tea for $6. After dinner will be the Peewee Pig Scramble a 6:30 p.m., followed by the swine sale at 7 p.m., and to end the fun-filled day of events will be the 4-H and FFA Pig Scramble at 9 p.m. For more information, contact the UF/IFAS Extension Hamilton County Office at (386) 792-1276.
