Hamilton County faces tighter budget

During the regular meeting of the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, July 7, the commissioners heard from County Auditor Ken Daniels. In his report, Daniels stated that he thinks the town’s general fund will “hold its own,” despite a $6 million reduction in cash revenues.
“Things are going to have to tighten up,” said Daniels.
The county currently has approximately $13 million in reserve. However, that figure is expected to drop due to commitments on the county’s funds. Daniels said the commissioners will have to be cautious with spending to keep that reserve from dropping below $11 million.
