Hamilton County Commissioners lift mandatory burn ban

During its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 19, the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners considered lifting the ban on all outside burning.
The ban had been in effect for several weeks after dry drought conditions helped lead to several wildfires in the North Florida and South Georgia area. Recent rain showers have helped mitigate the threat, though overall drought conditions persist. During the meeting, it was noted that the Florida Forest Service has begun allowing some burning.
