Lafayette Babe Ruth registration is officially open! Lafayette Babe Ruth is one of the most popular extra-curricular sports available in Mayo. It covers t-ball, baseball and softball. Registration forms are available online through the Lafayette Babe Ruth Facebook page. Registration is open until Monday, Feb. 3. No late registrations will be accepted. There are two dates for payments to be made: Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 6, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Edward Perry Sports Complex. The registration fee is $80 for baseball and softball and $75 for t-ball.
Lafayette Babe Ruth is open to kids from 4 all the way to 16. The specific age groups are t-ball for 4 to 6; Rookie baseball for ages 7 to 8; Minor baseball for ages 9 to 10; Major baseball for ages 11 to 12; 16u baseball for ages 13 to 16; 8u softball for ages 7 to 8; 10u softball for ages 9 to 10; 12u softball for ages 11 to 12; and 14u softball for ages 13 to 14. For baseball, the child must fit the age requirement by May 1, 2025; meanwhile, for softball, the child must fit the age requirement by Jan. 1, 2025. Tryouts will be on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Edward Perry Sports Complex, located at 840 NE CR 400 in Mayo. T-ball and 16u baseball will not be required to try out.
