
Gayheart’s sister reflects on 31-year legal journey

When the news broke of Anthony Floyd Wainwright’s impending execution for the brutal murder of Maria Tortora’s sister, Carmen Gabriella Gayheart, it was a significant announcement marking the near-end of a 31-year-long wait.
“It’s a long chapter that will soon close,” Maria said. “It’s time. It is time. I don’t want another governor to be in office. I don’t want another victims advocate; it’s just time.”
