As May is observed as National Pet Month, a Hamilton County organization is benefiting from a statewide effort to reduce pet overpopulation through specialty license plate sales.
North Florida PAWS, which is based in Jennings, is among several groups receiving grant funding through Florida Animal Friend, the nonprofit responsible for Florida’s specialty spay- and-neuter license plate program.
The specialty plates help fund free and low- cost spay and neuter programs across the state. For every plate purchased or renewed, $25 goes toward annual grants awarded to clinics and organizations working to reduce pet homelessness and overpopulation.
