The Florida Highway Patrol is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 25, on U.S. Highway 19 in Old Town.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 25, between midnight and 1 a.m., near N.E. 446th St., in Dixie County. The victim was found with injuries consistent with a motor vehicle collision, and evidence at the scene confirms that the driver involved fled without stopping or providing aid.
Investigators are seeking information related to:
- Any vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 19 between Cross City and Old Town around midnight and 1 a.m. in the vicinity of the crash.
- Any individual who may have witnessed the crash or can provide information that could assist in identifying the driver involved and or vehicle involved.
FHP is aware of an altercation that occurred outside Charlie’s Bar in Old Town prior to the hit-and-run crash. Any and all charges stemming from this altercation are being investigated separately by FHP for any potential charges.
