“There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope” (Hosea 2:15)
Apostolic Lighthouse Church is preparing to shine its beacon of light on Suwannee County by opening a female transition home dedicated to young women ages 18 to 21. The home, named the Door of Hope, is scheduled to open in Live Oak on Monday, June 23.
The project aims to offer more than just a roof over the heads of its residents in need. It will provide a faith-based, drug and alcohol-free environment where young women can transition from difficult circumstances, such as aging out of foster care or exiting recovery programs, into lives of stability and independence.
The Door of Hope will offer supportive housing paired with life skills training, access to job opportunities, and mentorship from caring individuals throughout the community. Its mission is to make sure every young lady who walks through its doors is “restored, empowered and thriving–equipped to live independently, pursue her purpose, and break free from cycles of trauma and instability.”
As part of its mission, the Apostolic Lighthouse Church is raising funds to support the program’s first year of operation. All donations will directly assist residents with essential needs, including rent, utilities, internet, food, transportation, counseling, medical care and education.
The church emphasized that community support is vital to the project's success and is requesting individuals, businesses and faith groups to partner with the mission to uplift the next generation of Godly women.
