Data center moratorium proposed by the Town of Jennings

Following the lead of many other rural communities, including Madison County, the Jennings Town Council is proposing a moratorium on data center construction within the town limits.
During their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 7, council members voted unanimously to have Town Attorney Sheena Rickerson draft an ordinance calling for an 180-day moratorium. The purpose of the moratorium is to give the council members time to further investigate the pros and cons of data centers and to decide what kinds of regulations need to be in place, or even whether data centers will be allowed within the town limits.
