It was an exciting evening of volleyball action in the Madison County High School gymnasium on Tuesday, Sept. 12, when the Cowgirls hosted Hamilton County High School Trojans. After a tough match that went the distance, the Cowgirls were able to take the win over a long-time rival.
The evening began with the junior varsity squads taking the court. The Cowgirls won the match in two straight sets, 25-16 and 25-21.
When the varsity teams faced off, the match turned out to be a very closely contested match. The match seemed to ebb and flow for both teams. The Cowgirls took the first set, 25-19. The Trojans responded, winning the second set 25-16. The Trojans looked as if they may win the match in short fashion when they outscored the Cowgirls, 25-20, in the third set. Facing elimination, the Cowgirls battled back in the fourth set, which was taken to extra points before either team held the needed two-point advantage to win. The fourth set ended with a 30-28 score in favor of the Cowgirls. In the rubber set, the Cowgirls managed to regain control and won the set, 15-9, taking the match, 3-2.
The Trojans will return to their home court on Wednesday, Sept. 20, when they host the Suwannee High School Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m.
