Aiden Fucci, an 18year-old who was convicted for stabbing a St. Johns County girl in 2021, has been moved from Suwannee Correctional Institute. The reasoning, according to the Florida Department of Corrections, is due to a routine transfer to a new program. Fucci was moved to the Reception and Medical Center (RMC) in Lake Butler on Wednesday, Jan. 15, and will be there until the program is ready to receive him. RMC is one of the few prisons in Florida that provide intake for inmates recently convicted of crimes. Inmates are housed there until the prison they are assigned to is ready for their arrival. It is also an inmate hospital for those with long-term illnesses. The reason why Fucci is moving to another program was not available at press time. Fucci was convicted in 2023 for the murder of 13-year-old seventh grader Tristyn Bailey, whom he attended school with in St. Johns County. According to court records, Fucci stabbed Bailey over 100 times on the morning of May 9, 2021, before leaving her body at a retention pond near Jacksonville. Her body was discovered the same day she went missing. Fucci pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to life in prison. Shortly after he was convicted, he was sent to Suwannee Correctional Institute in Live Oak, where a juvenile ward has been established. Because he was a juvenile at the time of the murder, he will be eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 25 years. Since his sentence, there have been no notable incidents involving Fucci, other than a fight that occurred in June of 2023. However, no severe punishment was issued.
