Mayo Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Third District Community Center (3373 US 27, Mayo). Regular Live Oak AA meetings are held each week at 7 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Men-only meetings are held each Sunday at 8 a.m. and are followed by women-only meetings at 4 p.m. The group also holds Al-Anon and AlaTeen meetings every Sunday at 2 p.m., which are open to friends and family of all ages. Let TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) help you with your weight management goals. TOPS is a weight-loss support group with two chapters that meet weekly in Live Oak. The Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park (11016 Lillian Saunders Dr., White Springs) invites the community to come out for its 34th Annual Quilt Show and Sale. Quilts of all shapes and sizes, using both traditional and modern techniques, will be on display. Quilting supply vendors and handmade textile artists will be available all weekend long. Individuals interested in becoming a vendor or demonstrator should contact Andrea Thomas at (386) 397-4478 or andrea.thomas@floridadep.gov. Those who want to display their quilts and fabric art, but don’t want to have their work professionally judged, can just mark the box on the registration form for entry in the “People’s Choice Award Only” category. Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18; Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25; Friday, Oct. 31 DRS Auction is excited to present a Haunted Trail and Hay Ride. Admission is free, and an assortment of vendors will be on site. Festivities will be “not so haunted” from 6 p.m. until dark, allowing the perfect level of family- friendly fun for all ages. Pleasant Grace Baptist Church (816 SW CR 351, Mayo) will be hosting a Farm Share Food Distribution event from 8 a.m. until all food is given away. Participants do not have to be Lafayette County residents to partake in the distribution.

Buy a pumpkin and support the White Springs Events Committee. The pumpkin patch will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there will also be plenty of photo opportunities available. The patch will be available at Veterans Park on Spring Street.

Create your own unique landscape for your special spot with this “Miniature Landscapes” workshop at Hearthstone Botanical Gardens. Materials including stones, wood, sand, beads and a wide variety of additional items will be provided. Participants can bring their own 8x10 pan or choose from the forms provided. The Live Oak Artisan Market will be holding “Boo at the Booths” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy trick or treating and harvest games, such as kids’ pumpkin bowling and other carnival games. There will also be homemade treat vendors, arts and crafts vendors, and a costume contest divided by three categories: ages 3 and under, ages 4 to 7, and ages 8 to 11. A live performance by Dangerously Detty will begin at noon. The festivities will take place at the Suwannee County Historical Museum (208 Ohio Ave. N, Live Oak.).

The magic of the season is just around the corner, and Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park (11016 Lillian Saunders Dr., White Springs) is gearing up for its dazzling Festival of Lights. Each December, the park sparkles with thousands of twinkling lights — but it takes a lot of hands to make the magic happen! You’re invited to join the park for Festival of Lights Volunteer Days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will help deck the park in its holiday finest, and in return, enjoy waived park admission for the day. Local businesses, organizations and nonprofits are also welcome to create a nonsecular holiday display at no charge, highlighting their group for the thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the festival. Get ready for some serious flavor with downtown Live Oak’s first Chili Crawl! Stroll downtown, taste a variety of chili recipes, and cast your vote for the best tasting chili in town. Participation in the tasting is free, and maps can be picked up at Derrick’s BBQ (1542 Ohio Ave. S, Live Oak). The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Join the White Springs Public Library (16403 Jewett St., White Springs) at 2 p.m. for a bite at its Death Cafe, where they will be discussing all things grave and grim. The aim of the cafe is to increase awareness of death and help people make the most of their lives. However, it should be noted this is not a grief or bereavement meeting. Although the program is open to all ages, younger individuals may be upset by certain topics discussed; parent or guardian discretion is advised.

The Rotary Club of Branford and the Interact Club of Branford High School are presenting their Fourth Annual Community Festival Chili Cookoff. Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and costs $20 per participant. Public entry for judging costs $5 in cash or $5.25 with a card, and will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. People’s Choice Awards will be announced at 2:15 p.m., with first place receiving $100, second place earning $50, and third place getting $25. Attendees will also be able to enjoy music, food and drinks, and a 50/50 drawing. Proceeds will support student scholarships, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Leadership sponsorship, Stock The Fridge/Teacher Appreciation projects, along with literacy projects at Branford schools. The event will be held at the Suwannee River Greenway in Branford.
