Community members are invited to join together on Saturday, June 6, to show support for a resident who is facing significant medical challenges through a chicken and rice fundraiser.
The event will benefit Derek Holton, a former law enforcement officer who is currently unable to work due to end-stage renal failure. Proceeds and donations raised will help offset medical expenses and the cost of necessary medical supplies.
Plates will be available for $12 each and will include chicken and rice, green beans, rolls and sweet tea.
The fundraiser will take place at the Live Oak Sub Shop, located at 511 Ohio Ave. S. It will begin at noon and will continue until meals are sold out.
In addition to purchasing meals, community members who would like to contribute directly may do so through Holton’s Cash App handle, $DerekHolton12.
