On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Charlie Kirk, a political activist known for helping found Turning Point USA, or his famous college debate tours, was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University. The shooter silenced him to stop his voice from being heard. The assassination shocked the nation, but what has happened since then could almost be described as beautiful. People are banding together to mourn not just the loss of Kirk, but also the divide the country is facing. But, more than that, people are coming together to celebrate Kirk's life and the things he stood for.
One such event is happening in Live Oak. The Charlie Kirk Candlelight Vigil will be Saturday, Sept. 20, at Millennium Park in Live Oak. The event will start at 7 p.m. and will last for an hour. There will be candles, prayer and guest speakers. The event hopes to help bring the community closer as residents mourn together.
