Flag Day, annually celebrated on June 14, is one of the more obscure American holidays. But where did this holiday originate from? And how can one celebrate it and show reverence for the nation's flag?
Flag Day was first proposed in 1861. This occurred shortly after the attack on Fort Sumter in Charleston, S.C., which started the American Civil War.
