Many residents of Branford know of Carter’s Beef Jerky, operated by Sandy and Andy Carter. While the business is based in Branford, the Carters are known across Suwannee County for selling jerky and other goods.
Recently, tragedy struck the family and turned their lives upside down.
According to their daughter, Sheri Akers, Andy’s truck exploded and caused a fire that spread to his and Sandy’s home and shed.
“The truck was under the carport near the house,” Akers wrote on GoFundMe. “The truck burnt up completely, along with his (Carter) wallet, money and important things; the carport and all that was under it; all his jerky in the fridges; the whole jerky shed with all the equipment in it; and it even got the house that I grew up in.”
Following the loss, the Carter family is seeking assistance to rebuild what was destroyed.
