“The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity” (Psalm 94:11 KJV).
A person says to their companion, “A penny for your thoughts,” when they see a thoughtful look on their face and are curious about what they’re thinking. Their companion then speaks their thoughts without charging anything.
I buy books about long-departed saints God used, so I can read their thoughts in the hope that it will help shape my thought life and, naturally, my practical life. I don’t buy books by modern writers because their books don’t have that spiritual aurora or afterglow that the books of earlier saints have. And modern writers,
