The third week of April was a big one for tennis at Suwannee High School (SHS). Both the boys' and girls' tennis teams faced off in their district tournaments, hoping to earn themselves a spot in the regional competition. The games were intense and a testament to the hard work the Bulldogs have been putting in throughout the past season. The boys found themselves in Tallahassee on Wednesday, April 16, for the district playoff matches. They were there to face off against Rickards, which boasted a 4-0 record; Wakulla, which boasted a 3-2 record; and Baker, which boasted a record of 1-3. The Bulldogs, themselves, boasted a 5-5 record. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were knocked out of the competition during the tournament. The girls, on the other hand, faired better in their competition. The same day, they faced off against Baker, boasting a record of 2-2; Wakulla, boasting a record of 1-3; and Rickards, boasting a record of 0-2. The Bulldogs, themselves, had a solid record of 8-2. For the singles matches, Lola Ballard defeated Rickards, then lost to Wakulla. Claire Palmer beat Baker County, but lost to Wakulla. Brooke Fernald defeated Rickards, then was defeated by Baker. Charlotte Dunn defeated Rickards, then fell to Wakulla, and Kira Sapp beat Rickards, but also fell to Wakulla. For doubles, Ballard and Palmer defeated Baker but lost to Wakulla. Fernald and Dunn beat Rickards but then lost to Baker. After the matches were over, the Bulldogs were named Class 2A Regional 1 District 2 Runners-up. They then traveled to Fort Walton Beach for the Regional Semifinals. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were knocked out of the competition, ending their season.
