Bulldogs dominate in Battle for the Paddle

Lee Trawick reporter2.riverbendnews@gmail.com The Suwannee High School wrestling team traveled to Columbia County on Thursday, Nov. 30, to compete against the Columbia Tigers for ownership of the coveted Paddle. The Tigers are currently rebuilding their program, while the Bulldogs are enjoying one of their best teams in recent years. The Bulldogs dominated the Tigers, winning 13 of 14 weight classes and defeating them 75-3. Austin McKinney, Marshall White, Eli Jolicoeur and Justin Contreras led the Bulldogs in eight of their 13 wins by pinning their opponents. Coach John Wainwright even had to call on five junior varsity wrestlers, as several varsity contenders failed to make weight. A
