On Friday, April 4, the Suwannee High School Bulldogs hosted the Fort White Indians for a softball match. What ensued was one of the hardest-fought battles the Bulldogs had faced. However, the true highlight of the evening was the Senior Night festivites that happened before the game. Both Kirsten Yaun and Abbey Ranck were able to celebrate their hard work over the years. They spoke about their gratitude and their hopes and dreams for the future, then prepared for the game.
The Bulldogs pulled to an early lead in the first inning, scoring one run. The second and third innings saw no movement with the score. In the fourth inning, both the Indians and the Bulldogs managed to score one run. Then, for the rest of the game, no other run was made and the Bulldogs won, 2-1. Brianna Woods and Ranck were the two Bulldogs who made it across home plate; Woods with an impressive home run. On the defensive side of things, Addison Petersen, Gabby Rodriguez and Maylee Gabey stood out, each completing five outs. Watley pitched for the Bulldogs that evening, earning herself five strikeouts and only allowing three hits.
