On Thursday, March 27, the Suwannee High School Bulldogs traveled to Madison for a softball contest with the Madison County High School Cowgirls. It was a closely contested defensive game in which hits were few and far between for both teams, thanks to strong pitching performances from both opposing pitchers. After two scoreless innings, the Bulldogs were the first to put runs on the scoreboard, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The Suwannee girls were able to keep the Cowgirls at bay, despite giving up one run in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Bulldogs returned to Live Oak with a 2-1 win over the Cowgirls.
Gracie Watley had the sole base hit for the Bulldogs. She also had a strong showing in the pitcher’s circle, giving up two hits, no walks and no earned runs, while striking out 13 batters.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved their record to 6-7.
