On Tuesday, April 8, the Hamilton County High School Trojans hosted the Branford Buccaneers for a baseball showdown. The Buccaneers shot to an early lead by scoring four runs, in the first inning. The second inning mirrored the first, with the Buccaneers scoring another four runs. In the third inning, they scored one more run. However, this time, the Trojans returned the favor, scoring one run as well. The fourth inning saw the Buccaneers increase their lead, scoring one run. Finally, in the fifth inning, the Buccaneers scored another two runs, winning the game 12-1.
Buccaneer Troy Roberts was the top scorer of the evening, earning four runs himself. Close behind him were Jackson Skinner, Jake Watkins and Kyler Williamson, who all scored two runs. Meanwhile, on the Trojans's side of things, Alex Bryant was the runner who made it across home plate. Ryan Moody was the playmaker for the Trojans, batting in Bryant's run. For the Buccaneers, Skinner, Enalee Perry and Keaton Brown led for runs batted in, each helping two runs to make it across home plate.
Skinner also led on the defensive side, completing a total of 10 outs, six more than any other Buccaneer present. However, Trojan Cody Doolittle was close behind, completing seven outs himself. Each team gave three different players the chance to pitch that evening. Williamson led in strikeouts, taking out seven batters in total. For the Trojans, Nathan Wheeler led in strikeouts, defeating four different batters and helping to hold the ground throughout the entire game.
