In a world increasingly dominated by digital media and technology, the simple pleasure of picking up a book and immersing oneself in a world of imagination seems to be fading away. However, there's a timeless place where stories come to life, minds expand and connections flourish—the library. One event rekindling the love for libraries and books while also helping spread Christian values is the "See You at the Library" Day. Hosted by BRAVE Books, a pioneering organization dedicated to promoting literacy and community engagement, along with honoring God by shaping future generations, this day has quickly become an annual tradition.
Founded to foster a love of God and America, BRAVE Books teaches new, traditional values. "With the universe and cast of characters we have created, as well as the Brave Challenges, we are creating a one-of-a-kind learning experience woven into an epic adventure that will live forever in your children's hearts and minds," the website states. "Our purpose, through our books, is to honor God by shaping a future generation of Americans who will fight for a nation defined by freedom, truth, humility, bravery and compassion. Our mission is to help parents instill a love of truth in their children so that the children will be able to withstand harmful progressive influences." A few well-known featured authors include Kirk Cameron, Missy Robertson and Bethany Hamilton.
On Saturday, Aug. 5, BRAVE Books' "See You at the Library" Day united over 300 libraries nationwide. The Branford Public Library was one of the 300 locations chosen to participate in this movement. Activities included a special reading of "As You Grow" by Kirk Cameron, a reading of "When God Made the World" by Matthew Paul Turner and a game of "God Says," a fun take on the classic game "Simon Says."
"I am very excited about the turnout for our BRAVE Books presentation at the Branford Library on Saturday," said Sarah Dennis, event coordinator. "We participated with many other groups across the USA, providing clean, educational and inspirational books to encourage our children in healthy growth. Over 300 libraries participated in 'See You at the Library,' with over 10,000 people showing up for the event. Knowing that the Branford Public Library and those that came were part of the event's success is an honor. Parents were very interested in the resources available to help lead their children. The
children enjoyed the presentation and interacting with each other afterward. If given the opportunity, I look forward to hosting more sessions such as these." Dennis added how, when she asked her oldest daughter what she remembered from the event, she responded, "As you grow, grow in greatness through being the fruits of the spirit."
Nowadays, children are often faced with questions about their identity and beliefs. It is crucial for them to have guidance and encouragement to confidently confront challenges and express their devotion to Christian and American values. BRAVE Books' goal is to help parents and guardians instill these characteristics in future generations. As part of its Freedom Island Book Club, youth will receive a new book each month, each written by a different author with a pro-God and pro-America message. In addition, they'll receive stickers and a map of Freedom Island, the world in which each book takes place. Annual subscriptions cost $15.99 per book (or $191.88), while the monthly plan costs $18.99.
Each BRAVE Book is more than just a way for kids to learn essential values and lessons that will help them become patriotic, God-loving Americans. It's also a fun and interactive experience for the whole family! With games and discussion questions included in each book, it's easy to get everyone involved and excited about learning together. So why not make family time even more meaningful with BRAVE Books?
