On Friday, March 14, the Branford High School baseball team hosted the Bronson Eagles for a showdown on the diamond. What ensued was the Buccaneers teaching the Eagles a lesson on how to play baseball. In the first inning, the Bucs scored one point, and they managed to hold the Eagles scoreless in the second. The third inning came around, and the Buccaneers had four runners make it across home plate, then another point was scored in the fourth inning. Finally, the game came to a quick end in the fifth inning with four more points for a 10-0 victory.
Throughout the match, the Buccaneers totaled 10 hits and 10 stolen bases. Pitcher Jackson Skinner was the standout player, striking out 10 batters in total. However, while the game was a deciding victory for the Buccaneers, and many players proved their abilities, the real standouts of the evening were the two seniors.
The Buccaneers took a break from the game to honor the two graduating seniors, Troy Roberts and Patrick Williams. Each was given a chance to take the field with their family and spoke about their gratitude for their experiences as well as what they plan to do for the future as they enter adulthood.
The Buccaneers' next home game will be on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. against the Jefferson County Tigers.
