Bomb squad called to suspicious device in Live Oak

A suspicious device discovered near 2nd Street and Hillman Avenue in Live Oak prompted a call for assistance from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad on Tuesday, July 28.
According to the Live Oak Police Department (LOPD), officers secured the immediate area after the device was located and notified nearby residents and businesses. Members of the public were also asked to avoid the area while the device was inspected.
At the LOPD’s request, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Bomb
Squad responded to the scene and secured the device. It was then taken by the bomb squad for further examination and proper disposal.
