Attorney Winifred L. Acosta celebrated 30 years as a member of The Florida Bar by hosting a Law Academy for students on Saturday, May 16, at the Suwannee County Coliseum in Live Oak.
The event welcomed students in grades eight through 12 who are interested in careers in law, criminal justice and law enforcement.
Acosta, a native of Live Oak and graduate of Suwannee High School Class of 1989, has made history throughout her legal career. In 1996, she became the first African American female assistant state attorney in Florida’s Third Judicial Circuit and later became the first African American assistant statewide prosecutor in the Jacksonville B
