The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) is seeking the assistance of the public in locating an Atlanta, Ga., man who is wanted in connection with a theft ring involving the sale of stolen goods.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, the SCSO posted information on social media about Robert Quinton Hill, who is a person of interest in the sale of stolen excavators and trailers as part of a larger ring that has been selling stolen equipment online from individuals in the southeast United States. Hill's activities have been traced to Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. The equipment being sold were rentals, with the expectation that they would be returned. However, Hill and his associates instead sell the items and take the money.
According to the SCSO's social media page, several associates involved in the theft ring have been arrested in Alabama. However, Hill has yet to be apprehended.
Hill is wanted in Suwannee County for allegedly selling a stolen excavator to a resident for $12,000. Hill was fully aware that the equipment was a rental and that it did not belong to him.
Investigators with the SCSO were able to track Hill's movements, which led to his identification as the suspect in this case. He currently has an active felony warrant for dealing in stolen property in Suwannee County, and his exact location remains unknown, although he is believed to be in the Atlanta area.
Individuals with information regarding Hill's whereabouts should contact the SCSO at (386) 362-2222 or Crime Stoppers of Suwannee County at (386) 208-8477.
