It’s that time of year again – the annual Suwannee Valley Youth Livestock Show and Sale (SVYLSS) is gearing up to take place from Monday, March 23, through Friday, March 27, bringing several days of exciting livestock competitions for local youth to participate in.
All events, which provide local youth with the opportunity to showcase their livestock projects while promoting agricultural education, responsibility and leadership skills, will take place at the Suwannee County Fairgrounds, located at 1302 11th St. S.W., in Live Oak.
Things will kick off Monday morning, March 23, as all swine get weighed in between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., followed by cattle and sheep weigh-in from noon to 2 p.m. That evening, at 6:30 p.m., youth will compete in the swine showmanship competition.
The following day, also at 6:30 p.m., youth will compete in the swine show.
Events will continue on Wednesday, March 24, with the steer and heifer show at 6:30 p.m.
The sheep show, featuring both breeding and market classes, is scheduled for Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m.
The week will conclude with the livestock sale on Friday, March 27, beginning at 9 a.m. Lunch for buyers will be provided at the fairgrounds during the sale.
