Amber Lorraine Goodbred, 94 of Mayo, Fla. passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020 of natural causes.
She was born in Reyburn, Penn. on Jan. 2, 1926, and is the daughter of the late Theodore and Hilda Cragle (Sorber). Her childhood was spent running and playing in the eastern farmlands of Pennsylvania. She loved horses and was an accomplished horseback rider. She loved the smell of the horse barns and adored her little Cocker Spaniel, Rover.
Mrs. Goodbred is survived by her daughter, Maile Donaldson (Bruce); grandchildren: Autumn LeDew Dinardo and Logan Hunter Lynch; great grandchildren: Matteo and Liliana Dinardo and Colten Hunter Lynch.
Amber was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Hunter Goodbred.
She was a faithful member of Mayo Methodist Church for over 50 years. Amber was a wonderful cook with a servant’s heart and often prepared meals and shared with those in need or who lived alone.
She knew no stranger and in fact loved Mayo so much, that after the passing of her husband this Yankee girl chose to stay in Mayo and raise her daughter.
She had a childlike way of fun and laughter and playfulness, made many friends and loved them all. Hers, was the glue that held our little family together.
Our “Granny” will be dearly missed. She was and will always be our little ray of sunshine.
A Celebration of Life Going Home Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, Mayo Chapel with Pastor Michael Hornback of Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Day, Fla. officiating.
