African Missionary Baptist Church to celebrate 158th anniversary

Live Oak is a city with a lot of history, from its early days of settlement to its explosive growth as the center of railroad transit. Although the area grew and changed, some things remained from the beginning and the early history. One of those things is the African Missionary Baptist Church.
On Sunday, Jan. 25, African Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrating its 158th anniversary. The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. at the church. The theme of the celebration is “Walking with a Purpose,” and the church points to Galatians 5:16, which reads, “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh (NIV)
