A legacy of care and dignity: Charles T. Hall

Charles Theodore Hall was a man whose name was synonymous with care and dignity in Suwannee County. He was one of the earliest Black funeral directors in Suwannee County, whose influence also reached Hamilton County during segregation. He, along with his wife Louise, provided comfort and care during hard times.
Born in 1922, Hall grew up in Suwannee County at a time when the throes of segregation continued to make life difficult for the local Black community. Marlon Ivey, who owns Ivey Funeral Home, said Hall was a “go-getter” who wanted to make life easier for his community.
