On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce will hold the 42nd annual Pioneer Day festival at Veteran's Memorial Park in Mayo. The first event at the festival will be the parade, which starts at 10 a.m. All are welcome to watch the parade of kings and queens, local politicians, cheerleaders, band members, local businesses and the 2022 Granny and Pappy—Allen and Gloria Johnson—fill the streets. After the parade, attendees can visit inside the park to peruse a variety of vendors from near and far.
There will be plenty of foods to choose from, such as kettle corn, pumpkin funnel cakes and freshly squeezed lemonade. Businesses will also be in attendance to show their inventory of clothing, homemade arts and crafts. There will also be tons of games and activities for the kids to enjoy. Local bands will be providing entertainment at the event. The chamber has also added a pumpkin patch this year, which is perfect for fall photoshoots.
Veterans Memorial Park is located at 123 SW CR 300, in Mayo. For more information, please contact the Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce at (386) 209-2988.
