In mid-October, Live Oak resident Justin Bronson was riding his motorcycle when someone pulled out in front of him. Unfortunately, he was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the vehicle. The resulting accident was almost life-ending. Bronson woke up in the hospital after being life-flighted to UF Shands in Gainesville. He had suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken jaw, fractured right femur and a busted airway. Fortunately for him, he was wearing his helmet during the accident, saving him from instant death.
“Needless to say, I’ve been on death’s doorstep since,” Bronson wrote in a Facebook post from his hospital bed in November. “All the doctors said I’m a miracle with how I’ve recovered...Someone was definitely watching over me that day. Never take a day for granted, and always keep your eyes and mind open when on the road.”
Three weeks after his accident in early November, Bronson was released from the hospital. However, he is still in tremendous pain and in slow recovery as his body tries to put him back together. Yet, a new concern has appeared: bills from the hospital are stacking up. On top of that, despite his miraculous recovery, Bronson will likely need a complete hip replacement. To help with expenses, his mother put together a GoFundMe for Bronson and his two kids. “If y’all can donate, we greatly appreciate it,” said Bronson. “Comments and words of affirmation are also greatly appreciated.”
