$38 million in grants announced for rural communities, $7.5 million awarded locally

On Thursday, Aug. 21, Governor Ron DeSantis announced more than $38 million in funding for small and rural communities across Florida through the Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The awards will support infrastructure upgrades, neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, and commercial development projects in 19 communities statewide.
Among the recipients is the City of Live Oak, which will receive $4.5 million. The funding includes $3 million for improvements to the city's potable water system and $1.5 million to rehabilitate or replace 21 homes for low-income households.
