Lafayette County law enforcement help honor special olympics athletes

On Thursday, April 18, the 2024 Special Olympic Torch Run found itself moving through Lafayette County. The program began in 1981, and for over 40 years law enforcement officers been the Guardians of the Flame. “We are law enforcement officers from over 300 Florida agencies, participating in a 67-county, statewide torch run to help Special Olympics Florida athletes reach their full potential,” the torch run website states.
