The Suwannee High School Bulldogs moved on to the Class 5A Region Two quarter-final by defeating the Braves of Parker High School, 14-7, in Jacksonville. With the win, the Bulldogs improve their record to 8-2 and earn the chance to move forward in the Class 5A state championship tournament.
It was a defensive struggle during the game. By halftime, the Bulldogs had found themselves in a 7-0 deficit. By the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs were able to cut the lead to 7-6. A fourth-quarter touchdown and two-point conversion sealed the game in the Bulldogs' favor with a 14-7 final score.
Two Bulldogs' defensive players were stand-outs. Keshawn Jones had a total of 6.5 tackles with three tackles-for-loss and two sacks. Javarion Smith had two interceptions and one defensive touchdown that proved to be a difference maker in the game.
The Bulldogs will now move on to the Class 5A Region Two quarter-final, where they will face the Eagles (3-4) of Pine Forest High School, from Pensacola. The Eagles are coming off a 28-21 win over the War Eagles of Wakulla High School. The game is set to take place at Pine Forest High School on Friday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
