Is it childish to engage in art therapy as a way of coping with strong feelings of disappointment, frustration or fear? Don't mature and rational people have such feelings, and find constructive ways to deal with them?
Surely art therapy is better than lashing out at others (e.g. calling them names like "entitled brats" merely for experiencing emotions one doesn't happen to share or approve of). Perhaps name-calling has become such a routine part of political conversation that people have stopped noticing how childish that is.
The trouble with lashing out is, it can so easily move beyond mere childish name calling. I'd far rather that my fellow citizens choose to express their negative feelings by playing with Play-Doh than by playing with firearms.
