Suwannee County has been home to thousands of hard-working Americans over the years. Many times, these individuals help make their communities and the surrounding area better places to live. Sometimes, however, they reach far more than the local community and enter the state and national stage. Such was Harry T. Moore, an African American civil rights pioneer.
Harry was born on Nov. 18, 1905, in the community of Houston, the one-time county seat of Suwannee County.
