Suwannee County youth excel in 4-H Public Speaking Contest

On Friday, Feb. 2, the Suwannee County 4-H hosted its annual 4-H Public Speaking Contest for participants in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Competition was fierce among the 15 school winners who participated. Several speakers returned from previous years hoping to secure improved or repeat placings against their peers.
This annual contest begins at the classroom level, where participants learn to write and present a two to three-minute speech about a topic of their choosing. Classroom winners then advance to the school level, where the top speakers in each grade level contest advance to the county-wide contest. This year, students from eight schools in Suwann
