The Branford Rotary Club hosted its highly anticipated annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, March 2, at Quail Heights Country Club in Lake City. The event saw a remarkable turnout with 111 players, showcasing the community's enthusiastic support for the club's initiatives.
Among the participants were members from Lafayette High School and Branford High School's esteemed golf teams, adding an extra competitive edge to the tournament. The club was also bolstered by the generous sponsorship of 90 local businesses and individuals, emphasizing the widespread backing for the Rotary Club's endeavors.
The tournament proved to be a thrilling affair, with players showcasing their skills across the course. In addition to the first, second and third-place prizes, several participants were recognized with various other awards. These awards included closest to pin (CTP), longest drive and even last place recognitions.
Earning CTP on Hole 3 was Jay Barnes, who made an impressive shot and landed just 4 feet 6 inches from the pin.
Ron Richardson displayed precision with a shot that landed a mere 5 feet 11 inches from the pin on Hole 5.
Zane McCranie showcased his accuracy on Hole 11, landing just 13 feet 8 inches from the pin.
On Hole 15, Dean Griffith demonstrated skill with a shot that landed 6 feet 7 inches from the pin.
Earning CTP on Hole 17 was Mark Resler, who showcased his accuracy by landing just 9 feet 3 inches from the pin.
Taylor Crawford received the award for Longest Drive, having showcased impressive power off the tee.
Although they didn't come out on top, Andrew Jones, Josh Branch and Jason Hollingsworth were recognized for coming in last place, receiving a consolation prize of $75 sponsored by Swim Clear Pool Service.
Ricky Crawford, Jr., Dylan Cannon, and CJ Proveaux secured third place with a net score of 57.
Shannon Brown, Rhett Willis, Sr., and Rhett Willis, Jr., claimed second place with a net score of 56.
Brian Lewis, Landen Lewis, and Jacob Soucinek clinched the top spot with an outstanding net score of 55.
The tournament not only provided an avenue for friendly competition, but also served as a platform for community engagement and support for the Branford Rotary Club's initiatives.
