Loyd Register, age 93, of Jasper, Fla., passed away on Nov. 8, 2020, following an illness of some time. Loyd was the son of the late Joe and Bessie Wetherington Register. Loyd and his twin brother Loye were born on Jan. 16, 1927. Loyd is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Addie Abell; his twin brother, Loye; and sisters: Minnie Stormant, Betty Jo Lindsey, Gussie Cheshire and Ruby Shaw. Loyd was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was known for his love for both his Lord and his fellow man. Loyd was employed by the State of Florida Department of Transportation for 46 years. He also served as a private, professional surveyor for many years in and around Hamilton County. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Jackie Gandy Register of Jasper, Fla.; his son, Buzz Register (Terry) of Moultrie, Ga.; his two daughters, Denise Elizabeth Register of Jasper and Susan Register Bembry (Leonard) of Greenville, Fla.; one sister, Phyllis Frazee (Don) of Pamona Park, Fla.; one brother, Don Register (Darlene) of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at First Baptist Church in Jasper, Fla., with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
