Christian country artist Chris Golden will be in concert at Lighthouse Christian Center in Mayo on Friday, March 1.
Golden is the son of the Oak Ridge Boys’ William Lee Golden. He considers himself blessed to have come from parents who are rich in musical heritage. “Though my mother was a homemaker, she was equally talented,” said Golden, who has fond memories of holidays spent singing around a piano with his family. “My grandfather got his start singing on a radio show. The singing tradition continues with my three children, all of which play and sing. My daughter recently made her first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry.” Golden and his daughter also made a recent appearance on The Mike Huckabee Show.
Golden has been singing and touring since the age of 15, and had a top 40 hit shortly after leaving high school. Golden has since had nine number one hits on the gospel music charts. His talents have taken him up the musical ladder, touring with Alabama, Restless Heart and the Oak Ridge Brothers. Golden’s abilities to captivate an audience have afforded him the opportunity to perform for every living president, except for President Joe Biden.
Besides singing, Golden is also an award-winning music producer. He has won numerous awards through the years. He was selected as the Inspirational Country Music Association's (ICMA) 2019 Entertainer of the Year and the 2020 Instrumentalist of the Year and Producer of the Year. For all of Golden”s success, he was inspired by a comment spoken to him in 2010: “Play for the One who gave you the gift.” Since then, Golden has carried that statement as his ministry mantra. “I just want to help people forget about the world...worship, and take away a good dose of hope, love and light—the LIGHT,” said Golden.
The free concert begins at 7 p.m. Lighthouse Christian Center is located at 772 SR 51, in Mayo.
