Florida legislation working on laws for dangerous dogs

House Bill 873 is currently making its way through a judiciary committee before being presented to the Florida House floor. This new bill, aiming to curb attacks from dangerous dogs on humans, is being referred to as the “Pam Rock Act” in reference to Pam Rock, a Putnam County mail carrier who was killed in 2022 by a pack of dogs while working.
“The legislature finds that dangerous dogs are in increasingly serious and widespread threat to the safety and welfare of the people of this state,” the bill reads. Dangerous dogs are defined as a dog with a record having bitten, attacked, endangered or caused serious injury to a person;
