On Friday, Feb. 2, Groundhog Day, a beloved cousin and I visited several historic cemeteries and one historic church.
We began with a delicious lunch at Fat Bellys in White Springs. From there, to use a somewhat antiquated expression, we "motored" out to the second oldest Protestant Church and cemetery in Florida, Swift Creek Church, established around 1820.
The beauty of the sanctuary there is found in its simplicity. I closed my eyes and heard the late Virginia Daniel playing the piano at homecoming on the last Sunday in September as I led the singing. We sang with gusto from the old Cokesbury hymnals. Favorite hymns were called out and requested by membe
