Around the Banks
When I was a child growing up in White Springs, Fla., the interstate highway system had not long been completed three miles west in Suwannee County. The White Springs exit for Interstate 75 was out on County Road 136.
There were several businesses out there during the '60s and '70s, but the most memorable for me and for many White Springs area residents was Bill's Freezette. Bill's Freezette was owned and operated by the late Bill Christie and his wife, Dot. They were good friends of my parents and traveled together on most Saturdays down to Florida Field to watch the University of Florida Gators when they played at home.
