Branford Town Council votes 4-1 for increase in community center rental

Danny Federico reporter3.riverbendnews@gmail.com The Branford Town Council resumed its conversation regarding an increase on the rent and deposit rates for the Hatch Park Community Center during its Tuesday, Dec. 12, regular meeting. The item was previously put on hold due to half the council being in favor of increasing the rates to $200 each, while the other half was not. Due to a risk for tying, and without a fifth council member to place the deciding vote, the item was held for the December meeting. Council President Ken Saunders opened the discussion by saying he believed an increase was necessary to offset the rising cost of electricity. However, Councilman Jay Hatch spoke up, stat
